The prestigious private institution in La Verne, California, is the University of La Verne (ULV). ULV has a long history that dates back to 1891, and via its different colleges and institutions, it provides a wide variety of academic programs. These include two military centers, an online adult school, the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Business & Public Management, the LaFetra College of Education, the College of Law, the College of Health and Community Well-Being, and the Regional Campus Administration, which is in charge of six regional campuses.

With a large selection of undergraduate, graduate, and online programs available, ULV is dedicated to offering high-quality education. Scholarship Benefits

For the 2024-25 academic year, the University of La Verne plans to provide scholarships worth $31,000 per year ($124,000 total for 4 years) in each of the academic programs mentioned below. These scholarships are specifically available to incoming freshmen, international students, and transfer students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. Prior to Fall 2024, applicants should not be enrolled in any La Verne course.


The scholarships are renewable annually for up to four years of undergraduate study, contingent upon the students’ academic progress and active participation in their respective performance scholarship area. It is highly recommended that students also apply for state and federal financial aid in addition to this scholarship.

A select number of applicants will receive invitations to attend Performance Scholarship Day on Friday, February 23, 2024. The announcement of scholarship winners will take place in mid-March. Upon receiving the scholarship, recipients will have until April 8, 2024, to accept the Performance Scholarship.

Scholarship Courses

In each of the following areas of visual and performing arts, the University of La Verne is offering one or two scholarships:

  • Communications: This scholarship is open to students interested in film and television production or journalism. It encompasses television, radio, multimedia reporting and producing, as well as podcasting.
  • Creative Writing: Scholarships are available for students with a passion for creative writing.
  • Music: This scholarship is intended for students specializing in voice or instrument performance.
  • Photography: Scholarships are offered to students excelling in the field of photography.
  • Rhetoric and Communication Studies: This scholarship is tailored for students engaged in debate and rhetoric.
  • Studio Art: Scholarships are available to students involved in studio art, encompassing various media and artistic forms.
  • Theatre: This scholarship supports students interested in theatre, whether in performance or design.

Scholarship Requirements

To apply for the Performance Scholarship at the University of La Verne, please ensure that you complete and submit the following application materials before midnight on February 2, 2024:

  1. University of La Verne Application: You can use either the La Verne or Common Application.
  2. Performance Scholarship Supplemental Application: After submitting your La Verne application and setting up your admission portal, you will gain access to the Supplemental Application.
  3. Performance Scholarship Recommendation: You can upload this recommendation letter to your application portal after submitting your application. Alternatively, you may request your recommender to email it to [email protected].
  4. Area-Specific Requirements: These materials, specific to the performance area you are applying for, can be uploaded to your application portal after submitting your application.
  5. Resume: Prepare a one-page resume that provides details of your relevant work in the performance scholarship area you are applying for. Upload this document to your application portal.

Please take note that if you choose to submit a test score for admission consideration, the December ACT/SAT will be the last valid test date accepted for review. By mid-February 2024, each department and/or the Dean’s Office will inform applicants about the interview and selection process.


It is important to mention that applicants must major or minor in the performance area they are applying for, as outlined in the Area Specific Requirements. Please remember that applicants may only apply for one performance area.

Recipients of the scholarship must enroll as full-time students at the University of La Verne and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 throughout their attendance. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors, eligible transfer students, or international students to be considered for the scholarship. Kindly note that applications and paperwork received after February 2, 2024, will not be accepted.
